Giving > Art Show

The sixth annual Art Show held at Newmark School on Friday, April 23, saw an estimated $41,000 raised — a record amount in the event’s history. Nearly 400 people attended the event, which showcased a range of artwork, from sculptures to paintings to computer-generated works, by students from both the Newmark School and Newmark High School.

The Art Show saw the Newmark School transformed into an art gallery with each piece of artwork skillfully displayed and lit. Throughout the evening, students served hors d'oeuvres as attendees took in more than 200 pieces of art. Attendees had the opportunity to show off their own creativity by contributing to a large piece of community art. Children were treated to a room devoted to the making of various art projects. The evening also included a live auction and a raffle of gift baskets. Artwork reproductions on items such as note cards, mugs and mouse pads were also available for purchase.

"We thought the art show was great on Friday night. The room looked terrific, the art work was amazing and most importantly the people were awesome and the key to a perfect evening. At one point someone said "people hug a lot around here" and my daughter's response was "it's kinda of the theme around here, everyone just loves to hug. Mrs
Borea taught me to give hugs back, now I am really good at it." Quite the statement from a kid who wouldn't let anyone touch her 8 months ago. We are so grateful for all that everyone at Newmark has done for our family. You will never know how much you have changed our daughter and our lives."
